Construction of Habour for Yachts in Port of Galle – Dredging Works

The objective of the project is dredging of harbor basin for the proposed Yacht Marina at Port of Galle.The total excavated volume of three zones of the project is 40,000 m.

​

Removal of a box culvert located about -2.5MSL which was displaced by Tsunami disaster in year 2004 and removal of larger rock boulders weight around 2–3 Ton settled in harbor basin were major challenges.

​

Ramp was made to the locations to demolish the culvert and the rocks and excavation was also done using the same ramp cost effectively.

Dredging of Lunawa Lagoon & Improvements to Sea Outfall

The works consisted of dredging of Lunawa lagoon bed to MSL -1.0m by removing silted sand sediments drifted in to the lagoon by the Tsunami of 2004. In addition, the rock out crop of 2,250m3 had to be blasted and removed.

These activities increased the capacity of the lagoon and opened up the sea outfall, improving the quality of water for fishery.

Dredging at Weras Ganga Project

The work involved dredging of drainage canals to the designed profile and depth, constructing gabion structures on both banks.

Dredging at Fishery Harbour Puranawella

The work consisted of dredging of Puranawella fishery harbor led to -3.0m MSL by removing silt sand sediments of 12,500cm3.

​

This facilitated to enhance berthing facilities of fishing boats.
